DARK DELICACIES: THE BOOK!
It was a gory good time at Dark Delicacies for their first published hardcover anthology DARK DELICACIES: Original Tales of Terror and The Macabre by the Worlds Greatest Horror Writers (Carroll & Graf). The fans were lined up out the door to get a copy of the book which includes contributers, Ray Bradbury, Clive Barker, Richard Matheson and seventeen others. The book can be ordered through Amazon, Cemetery Dance, and Dark Delicacies.

RHINE AT THE NECROCOMICON
R. S. Rhine will be signing his book, SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL at the Dark Delicacies table, Saturday, October 1, from 1 - 3pm. at the NECROCOMICON in Northridge, California.

On Sunday, October 2, from 2-5pm, at the WEST HOLLYWOOD BOOK FAIR, Rhine will be doing a special guest signing at the Golden Apple Comics Pavilion. Joining Rhine in signing "Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell" will be artistic contributer Mark Covell ("The Family Guy").

Imagine a satyr-like Satan ogling scantily-clad, buxom babes babes while freakish clowns make balloon animals out of disemboweled intestines, and you'll have some idea of what you're in for with Satan's Three Ring Circus of Hell. Well-written and witty, the standout stories are The Fungus Among Us (tennis shoes turn terrifying), Skinned Deep (exercise turns out to be very bad for one hapless old woman), and a horror-noir called Private I.
The illustrations vary in style, but all are outstanding in their own way.

"There are certain types of comics that provide enough of a guilty pleasure that one wonders if there's a special place in Hell reserved just for this kind of sin... I don't think Rhine left a nerve unexposed by the time I was finished: I was offended, shocked, disturbed, revolted, turned off, turned on again and at some points simply dumbstruck. This ain't for the feint of heart or the easily offended. Please keep in mind the risk you run of ending up in the specially reserved place on your final one-way journey... As far as the art is concerned, where do I start? There are 43 pros that have lent their particularly gory talents to bringing Rhine's poisoned thoughts to the printed page... Suffice it to say it took me three reading sessions to finish the book and I still wanted to go back and just ogle the eye candy."

The band performing will be "The Bob Lee" (members of Clawhammer, Brujeria, The Dickies, Back Biter, and Angry Samoans). And maybe Jim Smith will play his electric guitar!

There will also be a performance by FREAKSHOW DELUXE.

We will be screening the animated series pilot for SICKCOM by R.S. Rhine and Frank Forte, part of Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation.

REVIEWS AT AMAZON
In magazine after magazine, there hasn't been a bad review yet for Rhine's SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL. Nothing but the highest praise for it in the reviews section of amazon.com: but that's not the weird part. The book has only been out since July, right? And people are already selling their used copies at - get this - more than what they paid for it!

The book only came out in July and before all the new copies are sold, the used copies are already selling for more?

COMICAL HORROR
On Sunday September 18th at 2:00 p.m. Dark Delicacies will present an ecletic group of writers and illustrators. Professor Odysseus Malodorus will be signing TALES OF THE TRULY GROTESQUE BOOK 1: The Stench of Sulphur Swamp.
Bryan Baugh will sign his new graphic novel WULF AND BATSY.
Artist Eric Pigors will sign UNKLE PIGORS NOOSERY RHYMES.
Writer Rob Reger and Illustrator Buzz Parker will sign EMILY'S GOOD NIGHTMARES.
Rounding out the group will be Illustrator David Hartman signing the graphic novel THE DEVIL'S REJECTS.

Three of the artists involved are, of course, alumni of SATAN'S THREE RING CIRCUS OF HELL (Bryan Baugh, Eric Pigors, and David Hartman) , which has sold briskly at Dark Delicacies. Feo Amante was in the store on Sept. 10 and there were only 2 signed copies left.

PENTHOUSE AUSTRALIA GOES NUTS FOR GIRLS AND CORPSES AND SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL
What's more... uh... well, that headline pretty much covered it.

Under the headline, CHICKS DIG BONERS, it says, "The macabre mag is edited by legendary horror writer Robert Steven Rhine, who has published award-winning fright writing like Propeller Boy and Andros. Thankfully, G&C emphasises humour over horror - how can you not laugh at lingerie-clad twins being fondled by a moulding corpse? Well, maybe you can resist, but the set hits you with the same gag so often it's easier to chuckle.

Gallows humour aside, there are lots of interesting links to things like Rhine's latest comic book collaboration, Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell, which also serves as a photo gallery for the who's who of the LA horror scence. Apart from the usual B-grade stars such as Bruce campbell, there's background wallpaper of a baby who looks as if it's had its head stuck in a vice.

Laugh? We nearly died."

Requiem for an Etouffee
"Oh, but to dip my spoon one more time into the nectar of an oyster and duck gumbo at The Gumbo Pot... or, a coconut and coffee Sno-Ball at Tee Eva's on Magazine street... or, a peanut butter and duck sandwich at Susan Spicer's Bayona... A crab benedict at Commanders Palace... Andouille sausage, red beans and rice at Mothers... A bowl of BBQ shrimp at Pasquale Manale's... Duck & Andouille Etouffée with Corn Cakes & Pepper Jelly at Upperline in the Garden District... A mound of steaming crawfish at Acme... and, oh, to have my face covered once more in glorious powdered sugar at Cafe du Monde. I pray for the wonderful people of New Orleans, so filled with passion for life that you can taste it. This heavenly city, that I've traveled to on many occasions, now suffers an Atlantis-like fate. New Orleans now needs 'our' passion and our love and our immediate financial support to help them rise again - as I know they will - like a Phoenix - out of the swampy abyss. "

Robert's SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL is great, but it's the GirlsandCorpses.com that everyone wants to talk about. SATAN'S 3-RING CIRCUS OF HELL winds up as a stamp sized afterthought at best.
