DREAMWORKS TO MAKE 'GHOST' IN 3-D
(FeoNote: For me, most Anime movies work great in cartoon form and I see no reason to remake them in live action. Movies like AKIRA, VAMPIRE HUNTER D, METROPOLIS, and COWBOY BEBOP don't require a live action analog. But then there are movies like GHOST IN THE SHELL [and even U.S. counterparts like IRON GIANT] that feel as if they should have started with live action first. In fact, The Warchowski Bros. and Joel Silver readily admit that GHOST IN THE SHELL influenced THE MATRIX. Now that computer graphics imaging (cgi) bring - at least where machines and backgrounds are concerned - a seamless hybrid of non-biological backgrounds and machines, live actors can make the fantastic horrors of GHOST IN THE MACHINE's science fiction imaginings come to life. I'm wildly psyched about Spielberg heading this project and I'm holding my breath [metaphorically] that he won't assign Brett Ratner to the director's chair. The following article comes from Variety.)
Spielberg fights for rights to Japanese thriller
DreamWorks has acquired rights to the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature.
Story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

RUE MORGUE MAGAZINE PRESENTS
(FeoNote: If you plan to be in Toronto, Canada tomorrow, you may want to know about the following)
A Special Screening of Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s INSIDE
Wednesday, April 16 @ 9:30pm
exclusively at
The Bloor Cinema
506 Bloor Street West – Toronto, Canada
35mm Print! Classic Trailers!
If any horror film demands to be seen on the big screen with a crowd, it's France's INSIDE (a.k.a. À L'INTÉRIEUR). The goriest, most beautifully shot slasher film ever made, it follows a very pregnant young woman who discovers a stranger in her house – a savage killer determined to take her unborn baby. A tense, blood-drenched game of cat-and-mouse ensues. Too extreme for a North American theatrical release, this may be your last chance to see the most talked about genre movie of the Toronto International Film Festival in a theatre.
Warning: Pregnant women are advised against seeing this film!
Plus! Evangelical Satanic Faith Healing with Pastor Morgan Wilkes and Victor Marshall of Cloven Path Ministries!
RUE MORGUE Presents CineMacabre every third Thursday of the month at The Bloor Cinema. Check local listings or www.rue-morgue.com.

Sarah will be in the Horror Thriller, ALICE (based on both American McGee's ALICE and Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND and ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS).

One of the busiest actors in Hollywood is also the least known, by movie goers, for his face. That's because he always keeps his pretty mug covered in make-up, or doing voices for Horror video games and cartoons like Scooby-Doo, and he shows no sign of changing that anytime soon.
Actor Ron Perlman (THE NAME OF THE ROSE, SLEEPWALKERS, CRONOS, THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN, THE LAST SUPPER, THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, ALIEN: RESURRECTION, THE SHAFT, BLADE II, STAR TREK: NEMESIS, RATS, HELLBOY, QUIET KILL, 5IVE GIRLS, THE LAST WINTER, and way more) is 58.
And On Saturday -

From Marc Paoletti
SCORCH
A crime novel that draws upon the author’s real-life experience as a Hollywood F/X man—will be published on May 16, 2008.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS—April 11, 2008—Five Star Mysteries will release SCORCH by Marc Paoletti in hardcover on May 16, 2008.
The book tells the story of David Cole, a Hollywood pyrotechnician and ex-Navy SEAL who must use his military and F/X training to hunt the men who murder his son. Cole is badly burned in the process, and must dole out justice before his body and sanity give out, turning him into a threat to friend and foe alike.
To write the novel, Paoletti drew upon his experiences as a pyrotechnician in Hollywood. His credits include TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY, and Showdown in Little Tokyo starring the late Brandon Lee. He also worked on TV commercials directed by Michael Bay (THE AMITYVILLE HORROR [2005], TRANSFORMERS).
"Many of the situations and characters in SCORCH are drawn from first- or second-hand experiences in Hollywood," Paoletti says. "The trick was to offer readers constant action, technical accuracy, and true-to-life characters without stepping on any toes."
The novel has received praise from prominent thriller authors. Marcus Sakey, author of The Blade Itself, a New York Times pick, says about SCORCH: "Lean, mean and relentless. On set and on the page, Paoletti is the real deal."
Mort Castle*, Pulitzer Prize-nominated author of MOON ON THE WATER says: "SCORCH is a compulsive page-turner with true emotion rarely seen in the genre."
SCORCH, a Five Star Mystery hardcover, will be released in libraries, online, and in specialty bookstores.
*FeoNote: Not as impressive as it seems. Mort is such a good guy he's even said nice things about me!

GRIZZLY PARK
A suspenseful horror thriller in the classic tradition!
(FeoNote: GRIZZLY PARK is not like the old TV Land show, Gentle Ben. Don't confuse it with the 2007 SciFi Channel's, GRIZZLY RAGE. It's more like the 1970s movie GRIZZLY! Or maybe the 1960s movie, THE NIGHT OF THE GRIZZLY)
Woodland Hills, CA – There are bears that are warm and fuzzy, cute and cuddly. Grizzly Park is about the other kind. Allumination FilmWorks will release the grisly – and “grizzly” – horror hit Grizzly Park on May 27, 2008.
As part of a new criminal-rehabilitation program, eight unrepentant and rebellious young adults are ordered to serve a week of community service in a remote California forest preserve known as Grizzly Park. Under the supervision of stalwart, no-nonsense Ranger Bob (Glenn Morshower: DEAD & BURIED, GODZILLA [1998], THE CORE, THE ISLAND, TRANSFORMERS), this group of bad apples – each them rotten to the core – is offered an opportunity to seek redemption on their journey through the woods. But while Ranger Bob seeks to provide both literal and spiritual guidance to the reluctant campers, an escaped serial killer with an insatiable bloodlust has also found his way into the park. And, as they are all soon to discover – much to their escalating terror – he’s not the only lethal hunter on the loose …
The lion may be the king of the jungle, but the grizzly bear is the king of the forest, and those unwary (and unlucky) enough to enter into his domain might end up staying for dinner!
The hot young cast of Grizzly Park includes such up-and-comers as Randy Wayne (SCAR, TERROR TOONS 2), Zulay Henao, Emily Foxler, Shedrack Anderson III, and Brody the Bear - who needs no further introduction. GRIZZLY PARK also marks the feature debut writer/director, Tom Skull.
With its unique combination of broad camp humor and a high body count, GRIZZLY PARK is a throwback to the "pure" horror films of the 1970s and ‘80s.
