Horror / Dark Fantasy author John Everson (FAILURE, VIGILANTES OF LOVE, SINS OF THE SIRENS) has launched a new monthly e-Newsletter that you can sign up for via his website at JohnEverson.com/list.htm.
The new John Everson ~ Dark Arts monthly e-Newsletter will provide updates on Everson's books, new short stories, signings, etc. Subscribers will also get access to free stories and contests for signed books and other paraphernalia.
Everson has also hatched a new "Street Team" in the spirit of rock bands who work with a core group of dedicated fans to help them spread the word about their work. What's more, as soon as this war is over, we've got to REALLY spiff up this country for when the soldiers come home! What kind of welcome will it be if they return and the place looks like crap? We did that with the returning Vietnam soldiers already! They came home to a bunch of drug-addled ignorant hippies! (just kidding, hippies! You guys are okay ... in small doses). Let's not do that again. Which is why I'm bummed about Universal Studios burning up on Sunday. I hope they can have it fixed up in time for the soldiers coming home!

ALUCARD - From 2003 comes this ... wait a minute. Alucard? alucarD? Say... you don't suppose that's Dracula spelled backward, do you?
THE BEAST - Peter Benchley's TV movie from 1996. The studio is still wishing they had gone with a theatrical release. I say that because its very rare that an old TV movie that went straight to video has much of a life on DVD. Rarer still that it does so well that it gets a 2 disc Special Edition. In fact, this is the only one I can think of, and yet, there it is.
CLEAN - A serial Killer lets his friend take him to a snuff party, where said serial killer decides its time to get down to the business of serial killing.
THE CRY - From 2007. Over the last few years, since about 2005, the legend of La Llorona has been getting a substantial amount of play in the micro-budget Horror Thriller movie genre. Nothing has really rose to the surface from this reasonably fresh group of movies, but at least it shows more creativity than the over-saturation of seemingly hundreds of zombie and torture yawn fests every year.
DEVIL GIRL - Please read my review.
ENCRYPT - War and Eco Terror have reduced the earth to rubble in 2068, reducing many to cannibalism. So Captain John Thomas Garth leads a team of mercenaries to retrieve some priceless art from a dead man's house (WTF?). But the automated security system still works and gives them dang ol' mercenaries no end of trouble.
THE EVIL WOODS - Five high school teens, out in the woods, stalked by a killer, you know the drill. Except I don't think the killer uses a drill. But you get my point.
THE EYE - Hey, here's a great idea! THE EYE was a huge worldwide hit, but unfortunately it had Asian people in it and who wants to see that? Modern Hollywood cannot accept the idea that American Horror Thriller fans want to see a movie unless it has white people in it, or at the very least, hot babes that are sexually acceptable to Horror Thriller males. Plus the point of the story was this plain jane, non-descript little blind Asian woman. How much more HOLLYWOOD would it be if we went TOTAL celebrity-ville and got the most beautiful and hottest woman in the world (according to every single one of the U.S. celebrity and "lad" magazines) to play the non-descript, plain jane little American woman? If a merely average looking actress made this movie such a hit, think of how much better a movie it will be if the blind girl is played by Jessica Alba, who is almost inhumanely hot! I mean, the only reason Horror Thriller fans went to see the Asian movie was to check out the Asian plain jane's body, right? Its totally inconceivable that there was any other reason to watch this, right? So we can fist-fuck stuff this turkey with every bone-head, Hollywood Horror movie cliche and it will make a fortune because Horror Thriller movie fans are just that stupid and beneath contempt, right? This utter box-office failure was produced by Don Granger (SNAKES ON A PLANE), Paula Wagner (THE OTHERS, WAR OF THE WORLDS) and a bunch of other 'tards.
THE INNOCENT - From 2005 comes this micro-budgie from Brain Damage Films.
THE MACHINE GIRL - Mix EVIL DEAD 2 with PLANET TERROR and you get this little hummer of a Japanese flick where gas powered cyborgs take their machine gun arms and chainsaw anger out on a ruthless Yakuza gang.
THE POSSESSION OF JOEL DELANEY - From 1972 come this tale of demonic possession. Nora Benson (Shirley McClaine) wants her brother Joel (Perry King at his most terrifying, instead of his most irritating) to get some exorcise. But Joel is too busy learning Spanish (how EVIL!) and delving into Santera magic to listen: That and he may be possessed by a serial killer.
RAPE IS A CIRCLE - Two female hitchikers get picked up by the wrong guy, who rapes and brutalizes, humiliates and tortures, and forces them to have sex with each other plus various and sundry perversions, and if they don't they die they'll ... yawn... I think this was a Max Hardcore porn flick about 350 times in the past decade.
RED ROOM 2 - From Japan, 2000. The first RED ROOM was about a game show where one contestant would win a million dollars and the others would get maimed or die or both. Super gory, super bloody, this movie is more of the same with different types of maiming and murder.
SHARK SWARM - Well that career comeback that Darryl Hannah briefly enjoyed with KILL BILL didn't last very long.
THE SKULL - From 1965. Dr. Maitland (Peter Cushing: SHOCK WAVES) comes into possession of a cursed skull. He doesn't want to possess a possessed skull, but nobody else wants to take it off his hands. And since possession is 9/10ths of the law, you can expect this story to last about 83 minutes.
STUMP THE BAND - An all-girl band breaksdown in the wilds of Wisconsin and is soon chased by an axe wielding maniac with a foot fetish.
Its supposed to be funny, yes. Which is perfectly fine. But you know, its geting to be late in the decade and I really wouldn't mind a Horror Thriller movie thats supposed to be... SCARY!
ZPG - This SciFi Thriller from 1971 gets a re-release. Just as certain SciFi Thrillers of the past 30 years or so have tried to portray dystopian futures under conservative control (THE DAY AFTER, THE HANDMAID'S TALE, STARSHIP TROOPERS, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE [2004]), so it was that, back in the 1960s early 1970s, Hollywood gave us a glimpse of dystopian futures under liberal control (THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE [1962], COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT, THX 1138, SOYLENT GREEN, ROLLERBALL, LOGAN'S RUN).
