What’s your worst nightmare?
“Growing up, there were always stories and warnings of being abducted,” says Lisa Mannetti, “of being taken away from what you knew and loved, then forced to live in another world, another culture, a culture that revered and reveled in the most terrifying elements of the supernatural. And that scared the hell out of me.”
THE GENTLING BOX by Lisa Mannetti is scheduled for publication on October 25th from DarkHart Press. Set in Hungary and Romania in the late 1800s, the book revolves around a Gypsy horse trader whose family is set upon by a powerful Romany sorceress. In order to save his wife and daughter – as well as himself – he must confront his worst childhood memory … a hideous, brutal horse-breaking device he swore he would never use: the gentling box. Cast in modern prose, the novel is meticulously researched to reflect the Gypsy way of life, and in order to write the book, Mannetti reached back to her deepest childhood fears.
A former magazine editor and English instructor at SUNY New Paltz and Mt. Saint Mary College, Lisa has published numerous short stories and been recommended for a Bram Stoker Award. She is also the webmistress and resident graphic artist for a hugely popular virtual haunted inn, the Chancery House. In addition to being interviewed at numerous online venues, she has appeared on TV to discuss one of her passions: Lizzie Borden. Her macabre gag book, 51 FIENDISH WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR LOVER (illustrated by Glenn Chadbourne) is scheduled for publication February 2009.

SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: NEW DETERMINATION FOR SEASON TWO
There's no stopping this Terminator, as Tara Bennett reports on the new animation and lighting tricks for the second season of TSCC.
When the first season of TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got cut back to a mere nine episodes due to the 100-day WGA writers strike, showrunner Josh Friedman knew that he'd have to raise the vfx bar for the second season of his fledgling series, despite Zoic Studio's Emmy-nominated work on the pilot and first season (particularly the T-888 model). Not only did he have to woo fickle audiences back to his show but Friedman also had to make sure his corner of the mythology stayed comparable to the new big screen sequel (Terminator Salvation) coming in May 2009.

SPIKE TV ANNOUNCES ALL-STAR LINE-UP AND HONOREES FOR “SCREAM 2008”
New York, NY, October 2, 2008 – Spike TV has announced that it will present film legends Tim Burton and Wes Craven with discretionary awards for their groundbreaking achievements in the horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic book genres during “SCREAM 2008.” The celebration will gather the industry’s most talented men and women to honor these two filmmakers, who have molded the genre with their innovative style and foresight. The third annual televised event tapes on Saturday, October 18 at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA and premieres Tuesday, October 21 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on Spike TV.
Spike TV’s “SCREAM 2008” will also feature appearances and performances by Kristen Bell, Julie Benz, Darren Lynn Bousman, Thomas Dekker, Guillermo Del Toro, Summer Glau, Samuel L. Competition begins for a broadcast slot on American Horrors
