I asked Marc how can you possibly top the 1982 version and whether or not it is a remake or a sequel. This was his reply:

See, this is why so many entertainers come to the U.S. before they start trash talking, and only trash talk the U.S. - because you can say whatever you want in America. There is no free speech throughout much of Europe, especially Italy. Why just cracking a joke about the Pope can land you in prison.

HORROR MOVIE HYBRID
Louisville, Kentucky, September 4, 2008 - Anubis Digital Studios is creating a hybrid of traditional movie production, modern webisode production, and the audience creativity of YouTube. Winners of the Anubis Digital Quick Bites Horror Film Contest will become partners with Anubis: writing, filming, editing, and producing the sequel series to the successful full-length zombie comedy, DEAD MOON RISING.
Anubis released Dead Moon Rising in early 2008. In less than 30 days, the movie was Fangoria Magazine’s Video of the Month. The movie has won multiple film festivals, and its North American distribution has proven more successful than the company ever dreamed it would be.
The sequel to Dead Moon Rising will be released as a free online web video series, and advertisements will pay for the production. Anubis is creating the main storyline and episodes involving the original characters from the first movie. The company will select 5 winners of their Quick Bites Horror Film Contest from locations around the world. Contest entries will be screened at the Anubis Digital World’s Largest Zombie Gathering on Halloween weekend. The contest winners will write, film, edit, and produce parallel threads of the series within a framework of rules related to the original movie. These “remote” producers will also share the profits with Anubis.
The main series will document the adventures of the original characters as a zombie infection continues to plague the Louisville area. The parallel episodes will give the audience a simultaneous view of the experiences of new characters battling the zombie outbreak in 5 other parts of the world. As the video series nears its conclusion, the separate threads will come together into a finale.
Anubis will use this model to create a new kind of entertainment company that will produce many future Internet-based video series where the audience has more interaction with the characters and is more and more involved in the creation of the final product.

HURRICANE GUSTAV: AFTERMATH
FeoNote: New Orleans has long been
a playground for the wealthy. From the annual Mardi Gras to some of the most famous restaurants and blues clubs in the world. They don't like to live there, but they love to visit there. And who wouldn't? Not just the wealthy love New Orleans. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans was the tourist capital of Louisiana.
So 48 hours after Katrina passed, Mayor Nagin opened the flood gates on the failing Lake Ponchartrain dyke and flooded the lower part of New Orleans without warning. There was an awful lot of yellow journalism over that.
2008, Gustav tore through Louisiana. While New Orleans was barely touched, same as it was when Katrina passed through, the rest of Louisiana has been devastated. The U.S. national media doesn't care to report it during this election year.
Louisiana Horror Thriller writer, M.F. Korn, brings us up to date on what's going on.

HARRY MANFREDINI BLED DRY ON AMERICAN HORRORS
FRIDAY THE 13TH Horror Maestro spills his guts to Hart D. Fisher LOS ANGELES, CA- As the sun set on Friday August 22nd, horror film music maestro Harry Manfredini sat down with the scariest man in America, Hart D. Fisher, to talk film score composition, the creation of the iconic FRIDAY THE 13th scores, his life long association and friendship with Sean S. Cunningham, and so much more.
"Manfredini created one of the most recognizable horror themes in the world for Friday the 13th," says Fisher. "It's right up there with the Jaws theme, and to have had the opportunity to speak with this man about horror filmmaking, editing, and what makes a horror film score tick, that was a real honor for me."
"I showed up for a little interview at 8'o'clock, but by the time I left it was 1 in the morning." Said the legendary fright film composer. "Between the great wine and the great conversation, I didn't want to leave. I can't wait to see this interview hit the airwaves."
Mr. Fisher is currently seeking out more indie filmmakers, feature films, shorts and horror themed music videos for broadcast on American Horrors. Anyone who wishes more information or interested in submitting their work for review, please contact us at:submissions@americanhorrors.com.

MAKE A NOTE
Highly Anticipated Supernatural Action Mystery Based On Popular Manga And Animated Series And Features New English Dialogue Track And Special Bonus Material San Francisco, CA, September 5, 2008 – VIZ Pictures, an affiliate of VIZ Media, LLC that focuses on Japanese live-action film distribution, has announced the highly anticipated DVD release on September 16th of the live-action film, DEATH NOTE, based on the popular manga (graphic novel) and animated series. The DVD features a newly dubbed English soundtrack, along with the original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles. Special bonus features include an interview with the film’s director Shusuke Kaneko, an insightful “Making of DEATH NOTE” segment and the original theatrical trailers.
Based on the hit supernatural action mystery manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, DEATH NOTE was released in Japan in 2006 and mirrors the manga’s story of Light Yagami, an ace student with great prospects who is bored out of his mind. All of that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god named Ryuk. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals mysteriously begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to investigate, and he is soon hot on the trail of Light, who must now reevaluate his one noble goal. Both Light and L believe themselves to be on the side of justice, and the two match wits trying to show exactly which of them is "good" and which of them is "evil."
“Fans across the country have eagerly anticipated the release of DEATH NOTE on DVD following a very successful series of nationwide theatrical engagements that VIZ Pictures staged with NCM FATHOM earlier this year,” says Seiji Horibuchi, President and CEO of VIZ Pictures. “Fans now have a brand new way to enjoy this riveting story as a live-action DVD and for those who have yet to witness what the buzz is about, this film serves as an exciting introduction. DEATH NOTE follows a fine tradition of crime thrillers including SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and SE7EN and we look forward to audiences discovering the thrilling experience that is DEATH NOTE.”
The DEATH NOTE manga and animated series have become extremely popular across North America. A 37-episode animated series is seen by millions each week on cable broadcast and the animated series is also distributed on DVD by VIZ Media (rated T+ for Older Teens). On the print side, DEATH NOTE 13: HOW TO READ, a companion volume to the successful manga series, also published domestically by VIZ Media, was recently ranked in USA Today's Top 150 list of America's best-selling books.

GET THIS STRAIT
BURBANK, Calif. – On October 7th Strait Jacket will transport anime fans into a brand new world where anyone can use magic, and most abuse it. Those who cast too many spells risk becoming murderous, uncontrollable monsters, and all that’s standing between order and chaos are specialized assassins – monsters in their own right –and their protective “Strait Jackets.” Clad in a spectacular holographic “O-card,” Strait Jacket promises a trip into the fantastic like no other!
Created by Ichiro Sakaki (Scrapped Princess), Strait Jacket was a sensation from the moment it aired in Japan earlier this year. In a world where sorcery and science co-exist, the power of magic comes with a price: Humans who do not take proper precautions are transformed into horrific demons. Those who destroy these demons – and run the highest risk of all – are tactical sorcerers known as ‘Strait Jackets’. But when terrorists unleash a plague of demonic carnage, the Sorcery Management Bureau must enlist unlicensed assassin Leiot Steinberg to stop the slaughter. Even if this rogue killer and a mysterious young girl can end the outbreak, will they be able to face their own dark secrets?
Sakaki also wrote the screenplay for the feature, based on his original light novels, which to date have sold more than half a million copies in Japan.
Strait Jacket is produced by Feel (Jinki: Extend TV and Kissxsis OVA) and directed by first-timer Shinji Ushiro. Character designs are by Yoshinori Yumoto (Fullmetal Alchemist, Planetes), and boasts an all-star English dub cast, with Crispin Freeman (HELLSING, GHOST IN THE SHELL 2) and Kari Wahlgren (Samurai Champloo, Steamboy)
