"Doc" Taylor earned his soubriquet the hard way: a Doctorate in Optical Science and Engineering; three Master's degrees: Physics, Aerospace Engineering, and Astronomy, from the Universities of Alabama and Western Sydney; a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. Dr. Taylor has worked on DoD and NASA programs for 16+ years. He currently works on advanced propulsion and launch concepts, very large space telescopes, and space-based energy systems. "It's a twisted Lovcraftian, zombie voodoo thriller," says writer/artist Frank Forte, of Undead Evil, "I've always been a Lovecraft fan, and his influence has always creeped into my stories. I wanted to do a tale that had a Lovcraftian tone without redoing what's been done before. So the influence is there, but I'm adding many other scenarios that come from my years of reading and creating horror tales. I did quite a bit of research on Voodoo. I think this is going to be very dark."

The Old Globe in San Diego has found a replacement for actor James Barbour, who abruptly departed the company's upcoming production of "The Rocky Horror Show" last week. Actor Matt McGrath will take over the role of Frank 'N' Furter — a transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania — in the musical.

Michigan-made horror film will debut at McMorran
"Mimesis," the story of a group of horror fans who find themselves unwilling participants in a nightmarish role playing game, will debut at McMorran Theater in downtown Port Huron.

The Michigan-made film was written and directed by Douglas Schulze, chief executive of the Motion Picture Institute in Troy.

Schulze's last film, Dark Fields is currently playing on Showtime, which stars David Carradine and Dee Wallace.

In 1957, Hammer Films revived gothic horror – in abeyance in a decade that offered nuclear or cosmic horrors which made the classic monsters seem tame – with The Curse of Frankenstein, directed by Terence Fisher and starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. To hear him tell it, Jimmy Sangster, who has died aged 83, wrote the script because no one else would, and simply typed it out and turned it in.

Yet Sangster came up with a new story – owing as little to Mary Shelley's novel as to James Whale's earlier film – and a radical depiction of Frankenstein as a determined, charming yet corrupt dandy who could still chill in an era of nuclear proliferation.
