Wow. How... archaic.
Imagine a science fiction set from the 1990s. Just a mediocre science fiction set like one of the Stargate TV shows or something. Now paint the whole thing gray and add more blue light. You've got the Star Trek set for the new movie. Star Trek: Next Generations looked way better than this and they had a variety of color tones.
Have you ever seen movies like FINAL FANTASY: THE SPIRITS WITHIN (2001) or maybe Steven Spielberg's MINORITY REPORT (2002)? Pretty damn futuristic looking sets, right? Like something we'd see in, say, 2020!
J.J. Abrams's new Star Trek set (300 years into the future) looks like some futuristic thing we'd see in 1990. Or maybe the TV show, BONES.
Suddenly I'm feeling less enthusiastic about any upcoming Star Wars or Star Trek movies. And by less enthusiastic I mean a little queasy.

Shadows of the Damned was a bitter pill to swallow for fans of Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil series. The collaboration with Goichi "Suda 51" Suda and Akira Yamaoka should have been a horror masterpiece. A super group production from the composer of Silent Hill, the warped mind behind Killer 7, and the master designer behind the survival horror masterworks Resident Evil and Resident Evil 4? The grindhouse shooter didn't quite live up to snuff. It was a good game, but it was too silly to be truly scary, too sloppy to be build a thick atmosphere. So in April 2012, when Mikami said he was going to make a "pure survival horror" game with his studio Tango Gameworks, it was hard to know if he'd make good. Based on the Friday reveal of The Evil Within, it looks like Mikami is back on terrifying track.

In the course of the comic book, Tony Stark went from hero to loser to villain, eventually finding his way back to hero again.
Unlike the posters for the previous IRON MAN movies, at least one of the posters for IRON MAN 3 is clearly about a downfall. Whether or not 3 will be the catalyst for Tony's ultimate downfall where he loses everything and becomes a bd guy, we'll see. But if there is one thing that would keep the franchise alive at this point, it's a cliff-hangar second sequel that will keep fans dying to see the third sequel.

Mike Baron's HELMET HEAD
Author Mike Baron rose to fame in the 1980s as half of the duo (artist Steve Rude) that created the indie comic book superheroes, NEXUS and THE BADGER. The comics were popular for their time both in sales and recognition, with both men winning the coveted Eisner Award.
After the eventual folding of those two comics, Mike went onto other projects, other titles: he stayed busy. But at the same time, he never repeated the kind of hot success he'd found with NEXUS and BADGER.
Now he's out to change all of that. In late 2012, Mike released two new novels, WHACK JOB and HELMET HEAD.
