OMG! In a relatively deserted desert near Shiprock, New Mexico (wouldn't you just know it?) a mysterious methane hotspot has existed for over 10 years! Methane is many times more greenhouse gas than CO2, and it is the exhaust product of natural gas. You know all of those clean burning, Sweet Lady Propane city buses that don't put CO2 in the air, but instead run on Natural Gas, and so fart methane - which is around 12 times the greenhouse gas of CO2 - day and night?

Yeah, what a swell Green Solution that was.

Anyway, it's all very mysterious but before you say "Aliens!", NASA may just want to check out that coal burning power plant in the area.

GEORGE R. R. MARTIN'S PUPPYGATE (Plus Update)
Google.com has both manual and automatic ways to remove a site from their search engines, and they have a certain glee about it. Strangely enough, the very company that defined the Internet and the way people use it in the birth pangs of the 21st Century, are the very ones who don't get it.

Lots of massive corporations that once controlled their customers lost that control and fell apart. Take a look at any car company, any major retailer. If we're talking new tech, take a look at the graves of Hollywood Video, TiVo, and Blockbuster Video.

Google has this thing called "Scraping" and they don't like it. That's where a site like mine gives visitors the first paragraph or two to a cool article or blog that they think is worthwhile, then give you the link so you can go to that site and read the rest. And all without a lot of self-indulgent chatter giving you their spin on it.

The Net is choked to death with 500 websites and more (growing in number daily) giving you their spin of an article someone there read and reparsed and with any consideration or human-ness will eventually link to somewhere in their article. All so Google drones or their code bots, Panda and Penguin, don't delist their website (once delisted, getting re-listed can take years).

And you know what? I'm not interested in talking about any of that crap. I want to tell you about an important blog that writer George R.R. Martin wrote today at his blog.

It doesn't matter what side you take on the Sad Puppies success and the Hugos or even if you've taken a side at all. GRRM wrote this and when he writes, I think it matters.

So without further Google-Doo, GRRM's PUPPYGATE.

CAT PEOPLE was directed by Paul Schrader (BRINGING OUT THE DEAD, THE EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING) and written by Alan Ormsby (CHILDREN SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS, DERANGED, DEATHDREAM, POPCORN). It opens (accompanied by the perfect mood music of David Bowie) on a dismal desert village surrounded by a sandstorm. A young girl is forcibly taken from the village and tied to a tree, left as a sacrifice to the large black leopards that live nearby. Later we see another young girl brought to a cave, also as a sacrifice. This time the leopard takes her in what looks like a sexual embrace.

At the close of World War II, in the ruins of a remote Scottish castle, a clutch of Adolf Hitler's officers, soldiers, and some of his "Supernatural advisors" are preparing a machine to open the portal to hell. Using engineering science, they hope to break through to a level that chanting latin from a book, alone, cannot achieve. They want to bring forth Lovecraftian beasts through a torn portal in their reality to ours.

Yet the individual stories all add up to the main star of the tale, and that's the South end of Basin City, known to its inhabitants as Sin City.
