By now we're all familiar with the idea that you can recut a movie trailer to make people think that the movie story is the opposite of what the movie is really about. While no studios have been so foolhardy with investor money to actually pull this gag, plenty of studios have done such a botched job of cutting or having their trailers cut that they've kept audiences away by the hundreds of millions of dollars. Robert Ryang* re-edited using all original shots and dialog, adding music and Voice Over narration. Robert also added a clip of dialog from 2002's About Schmidt where Jack Nicholson says, "I'm your new foster father." Robert is credited with putting "Genre-Flipping" editing on the map, inspiring a slew of other editors to try their hand at everything from Horror movie trailers of Mary Poppins to Back To The Future as a romantic homosexual movie a la Brokeback Mountain. As for the recut trailer, Editor Robert Ryang Joins Cut+Run Continued at ShootOnline. * In order to achieve the high definition we've come to expect in the 2011s, TheLateGrahamChapman, meticulously re-cut Robert Ryang's re-cut virtually frame by frame in order to achieve the best quality.
