After 28 years, this morning Fangoria Editor-In-Chief, Michael Gingold just announced on his Facebook page, "As of today, for the first time in my adult life, I am no longer part of the FANGORIA team. Deepest thanks to my many collaborators and contributors over the years, and I look forward to working with you again as I move ahead!" Fangoria was once a part of Kerry O'Quinn and Norman Jacobs' Starlog Magazine and CineMagic family. Through the tumultuous decades that saw the demise of the parent company in bankruptcy; the buyout of Starlog by Scorpion Capital Partners LP and eventual sale to The Brooklyn Company, Inc., Michael helped guide the popularity and value of Fangoria through those down years and into the resurge of Horror in books, games, and movies. It's never enough that a genre has a tremendous fanbase. Without the ability to tap into that fanbase, your magazine goes nowhere. Even with a 2009 relaunch of Starlog online as a sister site to Fangoria, Starlog is currently moribund once again despite the towering presence of Science Fiction popularity across all media in the last twenty years. Best of fortune to Michael Gingold and all of his future endeavors. After nearly 30 years at Fangoria, the man has an unassailable resume of Horror experience and knowledge! Current President and Owner of Fangoria since 2008, Thomas DeFeo (no relation), remains at the helm.

Some people think I'm more important than you (I don't, but they do. You know how they are) and this is their (HA!) evidence. Matt Jarbo's interview with Feo Amante at The Zurvivalist. Researcher David Waldron, references my review of UNDERWORLD in the Spring 2005, Journal of Religion and Popular Culture entry, Role-Playing Games and the Christian Right: Community Formation in Response to a Moral Panic (downloadable pdf).
