NOTICE: Dec. 8: As of today, COVID-19 and all of its combined variants are no longer a pandemic. CDC figures show that throughout all of 2023 and most of 2022, Influenza, Pneumonia, and other diseases track significantly worse in terms of mortality and injury. As COVID-19 dropped to a level consistent with the commonality of earth's contagion landscape, I've chose to stop posting the numbers of CDC as of January 5, 2024. This is now part of my archive.
The 2020 counts have remained unchanged throughout 2022 - 2023 and, for the ease of reading and the sake of page load time, can be found at COVID-19_Dec30_2023.
Oct. 8: As of this day the CDC began counting C-19 mortality rates back to Jan. 1, 2022 again. As before when they stopped counting prior to June 4, 2022 back to Jan. 1, to today, 4 months, I've found no statement saying why the count was halted or why it began again. I also don't have any conjecture. The numbers I transcribe here represent only the data that the CDC provides without my interpretation.
Sept. 2: Since June 4, 2022, I noticed that the CDC took a new direction and stopped counting the mortality rates of previous years. This was the practice throughout 2021 and the first six months of 2022. I've searched for the announcement stating why the wall went up but haven't found anything yet. When I do I'll link it here.
Below is a CDC Notice for their website, not this one. The FeoNews COVID-19 chart is expected to run to the end of 2023 should the count continue in archive.
Datasets linked on this page will be available on data.cdc.gov. Please note that these datasets will no longer be updated after September 27, 2023.
Provisional data is available on CDC WONDER (wonder.cdc.gov). Data are updated weekly, and users can query data by a variety of demographic, geographic, and temporal options.
Please direct questions and inquiries to cdcinfo@cdc.gov with the subject line "NVSS Mortality Surveillance Data".

Jan. 1: It came to my attention that a significant part of the population had no idea how many people die from influenza every year, fully separate from COVID-19.
People are, in fact, going so far as to ignore standard Pneumonia precautions, focusing only on COVID-19, as if the mortality rate between the two is so wide that Pneumonia is something to safely disregard.
There is only an approximate 11.45% difference in the mortality rates and there are months when Pneumonia mortality rate surpasses COVID-19 mortality rate.
This is the way Pneumonia's annual average mortality rate has existed throughout the centuries since Pneumonia was first tracked.
The CDC charts it, so beginning with 2022, I've added the mortality rate for Pneumonia.

New data show the #COVID19 variant #XBB.1.5 is projected to make up 40.5% of COVID-19 cases nationally. See thread below for what we currently know and on what you can do to protect yourself.
"COVID-19 remains an ongoing public health threat; however, high levels of vaccine- and infection-induced immunity and the availability of medical and nonpharmaceutical interventions have substantially reduced the risk for medically significant illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. As transmission of SARS-CoV-2 continues, the current focus on reducing medically significant illness, death, and health care system strain are appropriate and achievable aims that are supported by the broad availability of the current suite of effective public health tools. Rapid identification of emergent variants necessitating a shift in prevention strategy makes continued detection, monitoring, and characterization of novel SARS-CoV-2 variants essential. Incorporating actions to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 into long-term sustainable routine practices is imperative for society and public health."

First detected on November 22 in Botswana laboratories and reported by South Africa to WHO on November 24, the latest variant of COVID-19 or
SARS-CoV-2, is named Omicron (variant B.1.1.529) on November 26. WHO labels it a "Variant of concern" on the advice of their TAG-VE.
As of November 13, 2021
The CDC, which since July 2021 has virtually left the 2020 death toll counts alone excluding minor single digit tweaks, began reshuffling the 2020 mortality rate in earnest, although nothing that comes close to the allegedly high numbers Anthony Fauci (Head of NIAID) and Bob Anderson (Chief chief of NVSS) claimed the previous president suppressed. Since the arrival of the new administration, there have been no major leaps in the overall death count of 2020 despite the fact that the head of CDC announced they'd counted significantly higher numbers but were not allowed to reveal them under Trump.
As of August, 2021
The Delta Variant aka India Variant, was first classified in India on May 31, 2021. It's one of three variants from lineage B.1.617 of COVID-19. It's theorized to be responsible for the February 2021 second wave of COVID-19 deaths in that country. It was first identified by multiple sources in the U.S. in August.
As of September 11, 2021
Evidence builds that COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan, China lab. It's the only theory with any supporting evidence behind it. Despite the U.S. Media and Facebook's contrary reporting, there remains no science research or evidence to refute this. In fact, as of this writing, there was never evidence to substantiate a counter claim, according to WSJ and MIT, despite claims by the U.S. Media.
As of May 24, 2021, the CDC has yet again decided that no deaths in the U.S. happened in the week of Jan. 4. This following news that the long labeled "Conspiracy Theory Hoax" of COVID-19 originating in a Wuhan, China lab is still the only theory that has any supporting evidence behind it. Further, there was never any science research or evidence that conclusively proved or suggested otherwise. In fact, as of this writing, there is no evidence to substantiate a counter claim, according to WSJ and MIT.*
"The WHO-led team that visited Wuhan concluded in a joint report with Chinese experts in March that the virus most likely spread from bats to humans via another animal, and that a laboratory leak was "extremely unlikely."
However, team members said they didn't view raw data or original lab, safety and other records. On the same day the report came out, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the team hadn't adequately examined the lab leak hypothesis, and called for a fuller probe of the idea."
As of July 3, 2021, the CDC has decided that the death of Patient 0 in the U.S.A. DID NOT occur on Jan. 4, but one week later on Jan. 11, seven days before China reported their first COVID-19 death on Jan. 18.
As of May 18, 2021, the CDC decided that the death of Patient 0 in the U.S.A. DID occur on Jan. 4, thirteen days before China reported their first COVID-19 death on Jan. 18.
As of April 3, 2021, the CDC decided that Patient 0 in the U.S.A. DID NOT occur on Jan. 4, but two weeks later in the week of Jan. 18 with three separate Patient Zeros.
As of Dec. 15, 2020
COVID-19 Vaccines were administered in the U.S., with health-care workers and older people living in health facilities getting the first of the 2.9 million doses already manufactured.
Mutiple media sources report that the first COVID-19 death did not occur in the U.S. until February 3, 2020, but as of April 2021, CDC maintains that C-19 deaths occurred in January.
NYT reports that the first death by COVID-19 in China happened on Jan. 11, 2020. CDC reports three deaths in the U.S. by Jan. 18, 2020. NYT maintains that the first death in the U.S. did not happen until Feb. 29, 2020 - Leap Year day. NYT also maintains that, due to the inherent incompetence of the Chinese Government, precautions, cautions, and other measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 were intentionally bungled by the Chinese bureacracy. This is not meant to be either a damning or glib statement regarding conflicting news from various sources. What's important to remember is that no one source has all the answers and believing otherwise is a matter of faith. The spread of such faith in single sources for news leads to misinformation, as we've repeatedly seen throughout the years and which current events in 2023 have spotlighted still again. It will continue to happen.
Throughout the 37 months of doing this graph, and the 34 months of making it public here, I arbitrarily locked the updates whenever I felt a curious change took place. Please note that my curiosity factor in archiving these frozen moments is due to my personal filter and so only empirical.
