I first met Mark Worthen in a Horror Chat Room back in the 1990s. We met in person at a Horror Writer's Convention and hit it off. Over the years, we began a phone friendship, calling each other, bouncing ideas off of each other, talking about the review he wanted to write and why, and sometimes Mark just wanted to talk.
When it came to writing, Mark was his own worst critic and he was sincerely complimentary of another writer's work whenever he openly wished he could be as good as that person.
Mark enjoyed writing his many reviews of books and movies here, breaking down he felt, the craft of how someone masterfully creates the art he adored and wished to learn.
In addition to writing reviews here, from 1998 to 2005, Mark edited the online Horror magazine, BLOOD ROSE. Along with J.P. Edwards, Mark edited the 2008 anthology, DESOLATE SOULS. In 2011 his work was featured in the anthology, NIGHT-MANTLED, edited by Angel Leigh McCoy.
Mark unexpectedly died on September 19, 2011, at the age of 49, leaving behind his wife, J.P. Edwards, and his four children from a previous marriage.
I still miss my friend.
These are the 21 reviews Mark W. Worthen wrote for Feo Amante's Horror Thriller.
